For younger readers

Smriti Halls and Steve Small have a new book out in the 'I'm Sticking With You' series. If you haven't come across them they really are wonderful- we follow the ups and downs of Bear and Squirrels friendship adn the friends they make along the way. Highly recommend.

And for those who love comics/ graphic novels-

There's a new Bunny vs Monkey for those of you in the know - these books are by Jamie Smart and phenomenally popular. Or if you subscribe to the Phoenix magazine you'll have met them and if you don't and you have a young person in your life who might be a reluctant reader or love comics and graphic stories check it out! Thoroughly recommend The Phoenix magazine.

Books for bedtime reads or to read alone

Murder at the Museum by Montgommery Bonbon had me laughing this morning as I opened up a recently delivered copy. A fast paced adventure in which we meet a new 'gentleman detective who looks suspiciously like a 10 year old girl'

Abi Elphinstone has written 'Saving Neverland' a re imagining of Peter Pan where we have lost children and Martha is very much at the centre of all the adventures. And the adventures are wonderfully told in Abi's inimitable style full of joy and spirit.

For all Emma Carroll fans - The Tale of Truthwater Lake is a fantastic book. We start in 2023 Polly and her brother go to stay with their aunt and through a sequence of events Polly finds herself in 1952. And as always Emma has brilliantly crafted these worlds to a wonderfully satisfying tale.

For 13+ readers

If they haven't read Manjeet Mann's free verse novel The Crossing or if you haven't I'd highly recommend it. Our YA group here gave it the thumbs up. Sammy is fleeing enforced conscription in Eritrea and Natalie's world is falling apart and Manjeet crosses between their lives quite literally in her writing and through a twist of fate they are brought together.... A 'should read' but have tissues at the ready!

For anyone who enjoyed Good Girls Guide To Murder and series such as One of us is lying 'The Girls I've Been ' is a page turner and had me hooked.

As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katou is such a painfully beautiful book. It takes you to war torn Syria and at its centre is Salama who battles daily with an agonising decision to flee or stay and help those in danger. With the most tender of love stories at its heart

coming soon-

I am thoroughly enjoying Natasha Farrant's The Rescue of Ravenwood- I'll pop it up when its published. Fantastic read for 8-12 year olds.

So that's all for now folks but I'll be back next week. Have a fabulous weekend x
